Who We Are
Kaplan Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC is a New York–based practice dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families as they navigate life transitions, social stressors, anxiety, depression, and challenges within relationships and friendships.
welcome!
Hi! My name is Elizabeth and I am so glad you are here! I am a licensed clinical social worker and certified health coach, and the Founder of Kaplan Psychotherapy LCSW, PLLC.
I attended The George Washington University (GWU), where I received a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and Psychology. While attending GWU, I became passionate about advocating for children’s rights and working with children doing 1:1 therapy, which inspired me to pursue my masters.
I have a Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University and completed my internship at Columbia University Medical Center working on the neurology unit. Post graduate school, I have worked and gained experience in a wide variety of mental health settings including hospitals such as Bellevue and Weill Cornell, outpatient clinics, and private practice. While working in these settings, I have conducted psychosocial assessments, managed large caseloads, worked as a supervisor training new clinicians in our field, provided resources for my clients and on-going support through the therapeutic process.
my approach
As a psychotherapist, I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and families who are experiencing an array of life transitions, social stressors, anxiety, depression and conflicts in relationships and friendships.
It can be challenging for children as they enter adolescence and experience new life situations. I work with my clients to provide effective and productive coping skills that they can use when navigating their busy day to day lives. My mission is to help clients reach their therapeutic goals.
I practice from a strengths-based approach, helping to build my client’s self-esteem and coping skills. I take time to get to know my clients as I feel developing a strong rapport is crucial for my clients and to build a positive therapeutic alliance. I have training in a variety of therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-informed Therapy.
